Darren McDonald has a comprehensive work experience that spans several years. Starting in 2012, they worked as an Intern Adult, Child, and Family Therapist at Catholic Community Services Oregon - CCS, where they provided a range of services including assessment, treatment, and case management for children, adults, and their families. Darren also worked with juvenile foster youth through the Oregon Youth Authority and participated in wrap-around services.

In 2014, Darren served as a Counseling Intern at The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center. Then, in 2015, they joined ProtoCall Services, Inc., where they held various roles.
