Carles Julià, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. In 2006, they worked as a Communications Developer at CESCA until 2007. From 2008 to 2011, they served as a Demonstrator at Reactable Systems. Carles then joined Reactable Systems again in 2012, this time as an Agbar Tower Developer and Artistic Manager, until 2014. In 2007, they began working at the Music Technology Group, Universitat Pompeu Fabra as a Researcher, a position they held until 2017. During this time, they also worked as a Lecturer from 2009 to 2012 and again from an unspecified date until 2014. At ProtoPixel, Carles has held multiple roles. Carles co-founded the company in 2014 and served as a Co-Founder and CTO until 2021. Carles then transitioned to the role of Co-Founder and Solutions Architect until mid-2022 when they became a Co-founder and Principal Engineer.
Carles Julià, Ph.D., completed their education with a strong focus on computer science and human-computer interaction. Carles began their academic journey in 2002 at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and successfully graduated in 2007. In 2006, Carles undertook an internship at Telecom Bretagne, specializing in telecommunications.
Continuing their studies, Carles enrolled at Universitat Pompeu Fabra once again in 2007, this time pursuing a Master's degree in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media. Carles completed this program in 2008, further enhancing their knowledge in the field.
Driven by a passion for advanced interaction and tangible interfaces, Carles embarked on a transformative path towards acquiring a Ph.D. In 2008, they re-enrolled at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and dedicated seven years to their doctoral studies. Carles'sextensive research and academic contributions culminated in the award of a Ph.D. in Advanced Interaction and Tangible Interfaces in 2015.
