Brian Simmers is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, People & Health Informatics at Providence. In addition to finance, Brian’s portfolio of accountabilities includes human resources, facilities management, health informatics (Information Technology, virtual health and data analytics) and corporate development.

Brian joined Providence after serving as Vice President, Client Experience & Chief Financial Officer for Technical Safety BC for the past four years where he was accountable for finance, information technology, client care and corporate services.

With over 18 years of experience in senior financial executive roles, Brian’s career has spanned from start-ups to large innovative technology companies. Brian received his BA in Administration from Simon Fraser University in 1998, his Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC in 1999, and his Certified Public Accountant (USA) designation from the University of Illinois in 2000.

A business leader and entrepreneur, Brian is committed to influencing culture, championing innovation, utilizing technology and leading human resource practices and shaping strategic direction. In addition to comprehensive financial management knowledge, Brian brings to Providence expertise in product management, the commercialization of technology, data leveraging, application of technology to solve business problems, and change management to drive organizational agility. His notable accomplishments have been the digital transformation of a regulatory body, the commercialization of distracted driving software for mobile devices and various investment banking activities, including raising funds, capital structure management, reverse takeovers, acquisitions and divestitures. He also brings extensive human resources experience in corporate restructurings, flexible work practices, compensation and payroll.
