VP, Public Affairs, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement at Providence Health Care

Shaf Hussain was appointed vice-president, Public Affairs, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement in 2011. Shaf brings over 25 years experience in communications, public, media, government and stakeholders relations. Shaf provides senior leadership for Providence communications and stakeholder-engagement activities, including developing strategies and implementing plans to strengthen relationships and formal networks of our unique community, corporate, patient/resident and faith-based health care groups and partners. He is responsible for Communications & Public Affairs and Media Services, and also works closely with Providence foundations to enhance coordination of reputation building and public engagement initiatives.

Shaf came to Providence as the leader of External Relations in 2003, and subsequently served as chief communications officer and member of the Senior Leadership Team from August 2007 to January 2010, and as corporate director, Community and Stakeholder Engagement from January 2010 to June 2011. Prior to that, he held diverse professional roles, including serving as the director of communications for the British Columbia Public Sector Employers’ Council Secretariat.
