Thomas Heel

Product Manager - Pherontm Active Ingredients at Provivi

Thomas Heel has extensive work experience in the field of biocatalysis and product management. Thomas began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at ACIB GmbH, where they developed novel expression systems and conducted high-throughput assays in prokaryotic host organisms. Thomas then joined the California Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they applied protein engineering strategies to improve specific characteristics of enzymes.

In 2015, Thomas Heel joined Provivi, Inc. as a Senior Scientist, where they spearheaded multiple research projects focused on bio-hydroxylation concepts and strain development. Thomas later transitioned to the role of Project Manager for Pheromone Synthesis, leading cross-functional teams in process development and scale-up for commercialization.

Thomas'scontributions and expertise led him to become the Principal Scientist in the Biocatalysis department at Provivi, where they were responsible for the downstream process development of a biosynthesis route for a small molecule pheromone. Thomas successfully implemented the process at commercial volumes and analyzed process scale-up.

Currently, Thomas Heel serves as the Product Manager for Provivi's PheronTM products, managing the largest revenue portfolio. Thomas leads global teams and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, while also overseeing life cycle management and commercialization efforts.

Thomas Heel has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry from Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck. Thomas also has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Molecular Biology, cum laude, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology, both from Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck.
