Melissa Smith

Melissa Smith is the current Director at PRSA Georgia. Melissa has extensive experience in executive and strategic communications, media relations, and email marketing. Melissa has partnered with numerous businesses and organizations, across internal departments, and connected with communities, through hosted events, to continually promote and establish Gwinnett Technical College, it’s programs, philosophy, and brand. With a career steeped in communications, media relations, and PR, Melissa leads teams to design and execute on strategic marketing and communication plans through multi-faceted media channels. Melissa previously worked as the Public Relations Manager for Carvel & McAlister's Deli and the Public Relations & Communications Manager for Focus Brands. In these roles, they secured Today Show coverage for Carvel – the first for this brand, and orchestrated all activities which resulted in the company’s first CSR relationship with the American Red Cross. Raised over $150k to support Hurricane Sandy’s relief efforts. Melissa also has experience as a Marketing Specialist - Media for WIKA Instrument Corporation and a Marketing Coordinator for International Arts.

Melissa Smith has a Master of Business Administration from Mercer University, 2020 - 2022. Melissa also has a degree in Political Science from Georgia State University, 2000 - 2005, and a degree in Journalism-Public Relations from Georgia State University, 2000 - 2004. Melissa also has accreditation in public relations (PR) from the Universal Accreditation Board and marketing management from Gwinnett Technical College.
