Andrew Sullivan

EVP, Head of International Businesses & Global Investment Management at Prudential Financial

Andrew Sullivan is executive vice president and head of Prudential Financial, Inc.’s international businesses and global investment management.

In this role, Sullivan oversees the company’s International Insurance segment, which develops, distributes and services individual life insurance, retirement and related financial security products to markets around the globe. Prudential’s International Insurance segment has operations and joint ventures in 13 countries across Asia, Latin America and Africa. Sullivan also leads PGIM, the firm’s global asset management business across public and private asset classes. With offices in 20 countries, PGIM’s businesses offer investment solutions for retail and institutional investors across a broad range of asset classes, including public and private fixed income, fundamental equity, quantitative equity, real estate, and alternatives.

In his tenure with Prudential, Sullivan has served in a variety of leadership positions, most recently as head of the firm’s U.S.-based businesses, comprising Group Insurance, Individual Life Insurance, Retirement Strategies, Retail Advice and Solutions, and Assurance IQ, a direct-to-consumer platform for individuals seeking personalized health and financial wellness solutions. He also served as head of Prudential’s Workplace Solutions businesses and had responsibility for the Group Insurance underwriting, claims and service organizations.

Prior to joining Prudential in 2011, he served as a senior vice president with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, where he was accountable for the individual and senior business segments. Sullivan also spent eight years with Cigna where he held a number of senior leadership positions, and led merger and acquisition initiatives for the health care, international and group insurance divisions. Earlier in his career, Sullivan held management roles at Diamond Technology Partners and DaimlerChrysler.

Sullivan earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, graduating with merit from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He began his naval career as a nuclear submarine officer. During his tenure with the Navy, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for superior leadership and performance on board the USS Nebraska.

Sullivan holds an executive MBA from the University of Delaware. He is chair of the board of directors for the American Council of Life Insurers, and serves as a board director for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
