Francisco Macía Varela has been working in the field of virtual reality since 2017. In 2017, they worked as a VR Research Intern at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where they developed and conducted the study "Individual differences in the evaluation of humanoid robots using Virtual Reality" using Unity and Google Cardboard. Francisco also worked on another experiment studying the physiological basis of the Own-race bias on facial perception using electroencephalography (EEG). In 2019, they worked as a Real-time 3D Developer at Jacobs. In 2020, they worked as a VR Research Assistant at Universitat de Barcelona. Currently, they are working as a Unity Developer at Amelia Virtual Care since 2022.
Francisco Macía Varela obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Glasgow in 2018. Francisco then went on to study a Master of Science degree in Serious Games & Virtual Reality at The Glasgow School of Art from 2018 to 2019. In February 2020, they received a STEM Ambassador certification from STEM Learning UK.
