Karen Galambos

Vice President, Patient Relations at PTC Therapeutics

Karen Galambos has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Karen began their career as a Medical Claims Liaison at MAG Mutual, where they prepared and presented claims to Medical Association Board Members and supervised computer reporting and training. Karen then worked as an Executive Assistant to the VP at Home Nutritional Support, managing operations and services for patients receiving home nutritional support.

Karen later founded and served as the Principal of Right Type Pro, a transcription services company. Karen coordinated services for various clients, including large physician groups, Fortune 500 companies, and global media companies. Karen hired and trained a subcontractor base, implemented new IT technologies, and provided ongoing education for the team.

In 2012, Karen joined Shire as an Associate Director of Patient Advocacy, where they identified and built relationships with patients and advocacy groups, worked on therapy access and coverage issues, and engaged with national and regional groups focusing on rare diseases. Karen also had a role as a Care Coordinator, serving as the primary point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and specialty pharmacies.

Currently, Karen is employed at PTC Therapeutics, Inc. Karen started as a Patient Advocacy Liaison, expanding engagement with patient advocacy groups and increasing awareness of therapeutic options for rare diseases. Karen then progressed to the role of Director of North America Patient Engagement, where they led strategic and operational efforts in patient advocacy and developed relationships with patient advocacy groups and patients/families. Most recently, they have been serving as the Vice President of Patient Relations, overseeing patient engagement initiatives.

Throughout their career, Karen Galambos has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient advocacy and building relationships with patients and advocacy groups.

Karen Galambos attended Jacksonville University from 1978 to 1982, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Consumer Behavior/Marketing. In 2011, they went to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where they completed a program to become a Drugless Health Provider specializing in Holistic Health Counseling. Continuing their education, in 2013 they obtained a Management Skills & Leadership Development Certificate from Master Class Management.
