Richard Thorpe currently serves as the Council Portfolio Holder for Finance, Assets, and Governance for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and is a local councillor for the Liberal Democrats. Additionally, Richard chairs the Audit Governance and Standards Committee, holds the position of Director of the Cambridge Road Estate Joint Venture LLP, and fulfills roles as Deputy Mayor with Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) and a member of multiple expert panels and boards, including ICAEW and the Public Interest Oversight Board. Richard has a strong background in finance and governance from previous positions, including Director of Trustee Activities with the IFRS Foundation and Senior Adviser for the Financial Stability Board. Richard's academic qualifications include an MSc in Global Politics from Birkbeck, University of London, and a BA in English from UCL.
