About the Role:

As the Director of Business Development, you will identify, engage, and secure partnerships to drive user acquisition and engagement. This role requires someone who can be both strategic and hands-on, combining business development with an understanding of technical integrations (e.g., APIs). We are looking for a scrappy, highly-motivated individual who can own the outreach and onboarding process and work cross-functionally to bring meaningful partnerships to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnership Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive partnership strategy to identify and target high-impact partners that align with Public’s growth goals and brand mission.
  • Pipeline Development: Identify and proactively reach out to potential partners, building a robust pipeline of opportunities across both traditional and non-traditional sectors, including finance, tech, lifestyle, and more.
  • Deal Execution: Negotiate and secure strategic partnerships, managing deal terms and contracts to ensure mutual benefit and alignment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering teams to align on partner integration requirements, ensuring seamless onboarding and collaboration across departments.
  • Integration Management: Serve as the liaison for partner integrations, managing API requirements, and utilizing reporting tools such as Looker to measure and optimize campaign success.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Establish KPIs for each partnership, regularly reporting on performance metrics, user acquisition impact, and ROI to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years in business development, partnerships, or similar roles, preferably within fintech, tech, or consumer-facing industries.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of technical integration processes, including API capabilities and data reporting tools like Looker; ability to communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • Deal-Making Skills: Proven track record of successfully negotiating and securing high-impact partnerships, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, prioritizing partnerships that drive Public’s growth objectives.
  • Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills and experience in evaluating partnership performance metrics, with the ability to adjust strategy based on quantitative insights.
  • Scrappy & Resourceful: Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of end-to-end processes.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to internal and external stakeholders.

The base compensation range for this role is $145K-$180K (+ competitive pre-IPO equity) depending on skills and experience.
