Janel Merritt has a strong background in business process management and digital transformation. Janel started their career in 1989 as an Account Manager at Eastman Kodak. In 1990, they joined Canon Solutions America as a Channel Manager, where they worked for 18 years. In 2008, Merritt became the Vice President at Document Managers, a company that implements business process management solutions. In the same year, they also became the Chief Operating Officer at DigiDoc, Inc. dba Public Sector Solutions Group, where they oversee the implementation of digital transformation for large corporate enterprises and government clients. Overall, Merritt has extensive experience in implementing digital solutions and supporting the digital transformation efforts of various organizations.

Janel Merritt completed their secondary education at Homestead High School from 1982 to 1986. Afterward, they enrolled at Howard University from 1986 to 1990, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a specialization in Marketing.
