Karen Toomer has extensive work experience in the field of environmental and regulatory services, with a focus on contaminated land, air quality, private water supplies, and environmental permitting. Karen has held various roles in different organizations throughout their career. Karen has been a Principal Officer at Publica Group Ltd since 2022, where they lead the Technical Pollution Team and is responsible for contaminated land functions. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Officer at Environmental and Regulatory Services, where they had similar responsibilities. Karen also worked at Forest of Dean District Council as a Scientific Officer, overseeing statutory duties related to contaminated land and air quality. Additionally, they worked at URS Corporation as an Associate Environmental Engineer and Risk Assessor, managing human health risk assessment projects. Karen's early experiences include roles as a Contaminated Land Officer at Forest of Dean District Council, an Environmental Consultant at RPS Group, a Water Treatment Operator at Glatfelter, and an Analytical Chemist at AEA Technology.
Karen Toomer attended the University of Nottingham from 1993 to 1996, earning a BEng (Hons) degree in Environmental Engineering.
