Damaris Delgado has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles related to environmental conservation and research. Damaris began their career in 1992 as an Environmental Scientist at the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board. From 1993 to 1996, they served as the Director of the Commission of Natural Resources at the Puerto Rico House of Representatives. In 1997, they joined the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources as the Director of the Bureau of Coasts, Reserves, and Refuges, a position they held until 2016. In 2017, they became the Director of the Bureau of Research and Conservation of Habitats and Biodiversity at the same department. Damaris also served as the Auxiliary Secretary of Conservation and Research from 2020 to 2022, and as an Advisor to the Auxiliary Secretariat of Conservation and Management from 2019 to 2020. Throughout their career, Delgado has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental protection and management.
Damaris Delgado earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, from 1985 to 1990. Damaris later pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Environmental Studies from Yale School of the Environment, from 1990 to 1992.
