Marcia Ryder, PhD, MS, RN, is an independent collaborative researcher and consultant in biofilm-related infections and vascular access. She is a past president of the Association for Venous Access (AVA), past chair of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology’s Scientific Research Council, and a former member the Technical Advisory Panel of The Joint Commission’s Preventing Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections project. Dr. Ryder received the 2007 Educator of the Year award from Infection Control Today and the 2017 Suzanne Herbst Award for excellence in vascular access, which was awarded by AVA.
