Jānis Sperga

Jānis Sperga has been working in the field of research since 2014. Jānis began their career at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL), where they completed their Bachelor Thesis. In 2018, they moved to the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where they worked as a Research Assistant. In this role, they conducted research on the phase and polarization sensitive optical properties of Ge nanohelices, including sample preparation, interferometry measurements, photoluminescence measurements, data analysis, and theoretical interpretation of the measurement results. Jānis also provided introductory training and supervision for new master students and supervised an electronics lab course for bachelor students. In 2020, Jānis moved to pureLiFi Ltd as a Researcher. Finally, in 2022, they began a Visiting Researcher role at The University of Edinburgh.

Jānis Sperga began their educational journey in 2013, when they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Latvijas Universitate. Jānis then continued their studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Materials Physics in 2019. Currently, Jānis is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
