Purgatory Resort

Located in the rugged San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado, Purgatory Resort is only 25 miles north of historic downtown Durango. Carved by glaciers thousands of years ago, Purgatory offers a unique blend of steep tree skiing trails and wide-open cruisers with stunning views. Averaging 260 inches of snow annually, Purgatory is known for consistent, dry powder from frequent storms which are followed by sunny, bluebird days — creating perfect conditions for pure alpine nirvana. Purgatory features over 1,600 acres of skiable terrain, 105 trails, 11 lifts, multiple terrain parks and a vertical drop of 2,029 feet. Built more than 50 years ago, Purgatory Resort was founded on a spirit of community, camaraderie and collaboration. Today that same energy infuses everything we do, from curating unforgettable alpine adventures to taking care of our valued employees. We believe that our Purg team members deserve the best, whether here for the season or for life. Purgatory starts and ends with you and your family, your memories, your discovery, your growth, and your passion. We’re here to help facilitate all you need to write your own alpine story. Chase your dreams as you attain that irreplaceable peaceful, easy feeling revealed only in the mountains. Our ultimate guiding principle, that drives everything we do is this: Give people the freedom to ski.
