Carol Naughton is the Chief Executive Officer of Purpose Built Communities, a position held since January 2009, where the focus is on transforming struggling neighborhoods into vibrant communities through holistic revitalization efforts. Previously, Carol served in various leadership capacities at the East Lake Foundation from October 2001 to February 2008, including President and Executive Director, working on revitalization initiatives for the East Lake neighborhood. Earlier experience includes serving as General Counsel and Deputy Executive Director of Real Estate Development at the Atlanta Housing Authority from July 1995 to October 2001, where Carol developed legal and financial models for mixed-income housing. Carol Naughton holds a Juris Doctor degree from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Colgate University.

Purpose Built Communities

Purpose Built Communities is an organization that helps local leaders implement a comprehensive, long-term place-based redevelopment model with public and private partners in neighborhoods of concentrated urban poverty to create healthy, vibrant neighborhoods where all residents can thrive. It is a nonprofit consulting firm that offers its services free of charge. The Purpose Built Model includes mixed-income housing, a cradle-to-college education pipeline and community wellness programs and facilities in a defined neighborhood, coordinated by a dedicated, nonprofit community quarterback organization. There are now 16 Purpose Built Communities Network Members across the United States.
