Heather Mathis, M.Ed. has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. In 2008, they started working as a Chemistry and Physics Tutor at Western Carolina University and then moved on to become an eLearning/Blended Learning Science and Math Instructor/EdTech Coordinator at Notre Dame International High School for two years. Following that, they worked as an eLearning/Blended Learning Science Instructor at iMeck Academy in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and used technology-driven instructional design to personalize learning experiences. In 2015, Heather joined the GASTON COUNTY SCHOOLS as an Instructional Technology Facilitator, becoming a Certified Apple Teacher and G Suite for Education Certified Trainer while delivering personalized face-to-face and virtual (synchronous and asynchronous) EdTech training. In the same year, they also worked briefly as an Instructional Designer at Zia Learning and created online courses for the Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy. Heather has also worked as a Training Specialist at Purposed Design and is currently employed as an Instructional Designer at Belmont Abbey College (start year 2022). Throughout their career, Heather has developed their skills in EdTech Training and Instructional Design, Canvas LMS Administration, Project Management, and School-Based Support, among other areas.

Heather Mathis, M.Ed. earned their Bachelor of Education degree in Physical Sciences from Western Carolina University in 2011. In 2014, they earned their Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education. Heather also holds a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Systems Technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, which they obtained between 2015-2017. Heather has obtained a number of additional certifications spanning various fields, including Camtasia, project management, Apple Teacher, G Suite for Education, and Google Certified Educator. Heather has also earned multiple teaching licenses from the North Carolina Department of Education, which include 9-12 Science, Instructional Technology Specialist, and 9-12 Science/ Instructional Technology Specialist.
