James Rutherford has more than 20 years of work experience, starting in 2000. James began their career at the University of Dallas as a Margaret Jonsson Theater staff member. From 2002 to 2013, they worked as a Freelance ePublisher and Illustrator at Questions for the Thinker, where they converted and formatted print documents for digital delivery and designed covers for printed books. At Aquinas and More, they served as a Sr. Operations Designer from 2003 to 2012, redesigning business processes, managing a creative team, and conducting customer interviews and usability tests. In 2013, they joined Western Union as an Interaction Designer, managing retail/POS customer experience and leading various design initiatives. James then moved to Cherwell Software in 2014 as a Senior Application Developer/UX Designer, where they were involved in conceptualizing, testing, enhancing the UI, developing web tools, and managing projects within the Agile/Scrum framework. James held multiple roles at Cherwell Software, including Senior UX Designer and Principal UI/UX Designer. In 2021, they joined Ivanti as a Principal UI/UX Designer before transitioning to their current role as a UX Lead at Pushpay.

James Rutherford obtained a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in Web Design and New Media from the Academy of Art University, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from The University of Dallas between 2000 and 2004. Outside of their formal education, James has obtained several certifications, including the ITIL Foundation certificate in IT Service Management from CSME, Inc. in March 2015, and the Git Essential Training certification from lynda.com in January 2015. James also obtained certifications in various subjects such as HTML5, CSS, jQuery, and Time Management from lynda.com between 2011 and 2013. Additionally, James holds a SAFe 4 Certified Scrum Master certification, but the specific dates of obtaining this certification are not provided.
