User Experience Designer at Pushpay

Michael Tschampl has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Michael is currently employed as a User Experience Designer at Pushpay since 2022. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2022, they worked at Hach in different roles including Senior User Experience Designer and Visual Designer. At Hach, they trained and mentored employees on user-centered design, facilitated design workshops, and provided consulting on user experience design for software and hardware.

Before joining Hach, Michael worked at Iowa State University from 2013 to 2014 as a Ideation Flexibility Research Assistant and as a Studio and Creative Thinking Teaching Assistant. Michael conducted research on feasibility of ideas and analyzed the effects of Ideation Flexibility methods in Engineering education. Michael also assisted in the instruction of Industrial Design studios and helped students develop creative thinking skills.

In 2013, Michael worked as a User Experience Intern at Workiva. Michael contributed as an Interaction Designer for different product teams, participated in design critiques, and gained knowledge of Agile and Lean UX methods.

In 2012, they worked at Iowa State University as a Tractor Rollover Fatality Research Assistant. Michael conducted research on resistance to rollover protection structures on tractors and collaborated with Electrical Engineers on developing a tractor safety device.

Prior to pursuing their career in design, Michael worked as a Campus Youth Specialist at Lutheran Services in Iowa from 2009 to 2011, and held temporary roles at Des Moines Art Center and Chinati Foundation between 2008 and 2010.

Michael Tschampl obtained a Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Fine Art, Sculpture from Briar Cliff University, where they studied from 2002 to 2006. Michael further pursued their education at Iowa State University, earning a Master of Industrial Design (MID) in Industrial Design between 2011 and 2014. In addition to their formal education, Michael Tschampl obtained a UX Certificate from the Nielsen Norman Group in October 2020.
