Michael Oster is an experienced professional in the field of education and travel management, currently serving as the Smithsonian Student Travel Manager and Director of Hiring at Putney Student Travel since September 2012. In this role, Michael oversees all aspects of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and managing a diverse pool of summer program staff, while also managing the collaboration with Smithsonian Student Travel. Prior to this, Michael was the Program Director at the Catalina Island Marine Institute from September 2005 to November 2008 and worked as a Marine Science Educator at SoundWaters from September 2004 to August 2005. Since 1951, Putney Student Travel has offered high school and middle school students the opportunity and insight to shape their world through travel, unique cultural engagement, friendship, and fun. Our summer programs for teens include Service, Exploration, Language, Career, and Pre-College trips to 30+ countries around the world. We also collaborate with the Smithsonian to offer Smithsonian Student Travel; with National Geographic to offer National Geographic Student Travel; and with Harvard Chan C-CHANGE to offer Youth Summits on Climate, Equity, & Health.
