Jim Murphy has a strong background in marketing technology and operations. Jim started their career at MicroStrategy as a Senior Production Consultant in 2000 and worked there until 2001. Jim then joined Gemstar-TV Guide as the Director of IT Fulfillment Operations, where they managed a team of 13 employees and oversaw various systems. In 2007, they moved to TV Guide Magazine, LLC as the Director of Finance and Fulfillment, where they successfully outsourced the magazine's subscription fulfillment operation, resulting in substantial cost savings. In 2010, Jim joined RealAge (A Unit of the Hearst Corporation) as the Director of Database Marketing and Analytics. Jim then moved to Hearst Magazines in 2012, where they served as the Executive Director of Marketing Technology and Operations until 2016. Currently, Jim is the Vice President of Marketing Technology and Operations at PubWorX, an agency jointly owned by Hearst Magazines and Conde Nast. In their current role, they oversee clients' marketing databases, analytics and reporting function, multi-channel marketing execution, and inbound e-commerce storefronts. Jim manages a team of over 30 full-time employees.
Jim Murphy attended Regis High School from 1987 to 1991. Jim then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry at The Johns Hopkins University, completing their studies from 1991 to 1995. Afterward, they enrolled at Columbia University from 1998 to 2000, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Medical Informatics.
