Adam Martin

Senior Director, Chemistry at PYC Therapeutics

Adam Martin has a diverse work experience in the fields of chemistry and research. Adam is currently employed as a Senior Director of Chemistry at PYC Therapeutics, where they oversee various operations including CDMO management, regulatory documentation, and strategy development. Adam is also responsible for internal QC operations and the strategic operations of PYC's cell penetrating peptide Platform.

Prior to their current role, Adam worked at Macquarie University as an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow. In these positions, they provided project and strategic guidance to the Dementia Research Centre and led a research team focused on developing functional peptides for modeling and treating various dementias. Adam also established a peptide synthesis facility within the university.

Adam also had a role at UNSW as the Deputy Head of Safety within the School of Chemistry. Here, they ensured compliance with safety guidelines, implemented new procedures, and worked with laboratory managers and users to maintain a safe working environment. Adam also held a NHMRC Dementia Research Development Fellowship, during which they developed 3D hydrogels for studying Alzheimer's disease.

In addition, Adam worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at both UNSW and the University of Nottingham. At UNSW, they designed short peptide hydrogels for tissue engineering and cell viability studies. At the University of Nottingham, they focused on designing macrocyclic metal-organic frameworks for gas separation and storage.

Adam's early work experience includes roles as a Research Assistant, PhD student, and Laboratory Demonstrator at the University of Western Australia.

Adam Martin completed their Bachelor of Science in Nanotechnology (Honours) at Curtin University from 2004 to 2007. Adam then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy in Supramolecular Chemistry at The University of Western Australia, where they studied from 2008 to 2011.
