Chris Moran

Chris Moran is an experienced fire scientist, currently serving as the Director of Fire Science at Pyrologix since August 2019, where responsibilities include fire modeling and risk assessment. Chris is also an Affiliate Professor and Fire and Fuels Science Program Lead at the University of Montana while contributing as a Remote Sensing Scientist for the USDA Forest Service until August 2022. With expertise in advanced technologies such as machine learning, remote sensing, and GIS, Chris has participated in various significant projects, including the Wildfire Risk to Communities initiative. Education includes a Ph.D. in Forestry and Conservation from the University of Montana and a Master's degree in Biological Sciences from South Dakota State University. Chris's professional background encompasses roles in wildland fire management, geospatial analysis, and research, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing fire science and land management practices.
