Steve Cornell is an experienced aviation professional currently serving as Vice President of Short Haul for the Australian and International Pilots Association since January 2023, where the focus is on representing the interests of Qantas Group Pilots, particularly Short Haul pilots. In addition, Steve holds the position of Safety & Technical Director at Qantas since July 2016 and has previously worked as a Human Factors Facilitator, Airline Pilot, and Health & Safety Representative. Other roles include serving as a NSW Justice of the Peace and as an Airline Pilot with Emirates from December 2011 to June 2016, and with Qantas from April 2004 to December 2011. Steve's academic qualifications include a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance from the University of Newcastle and a Master's degree in Aviation Management, also from the University of Newcastle, along with completion of a Quality & Safety Lead Auditor Course at Southpac Aerospace in 2018.
