Salvatore Sama

Salvatore Sama has over 20 years of professional experience in the insurance and financial industry. Salvatore is currently working at QBE Re as the Senior Vice President and Head of North America Casualty & FinPro. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Vice President and Head of US Financial and Professional Lines at QBE Re.

Before joining QBE Re, Salvatore worked at Swiss Re for 10 years. Salvatore served as the Senior Vice President and Head of US Professional Lines Desk, overseeing the professional lines business in the United States. Salvatore also held the role of Account Executive and Vice President in the Direct Treaty Reinsurance division at Swiss Re.

Salvatore started their career at AIG, where they worked as a Regional Underwriting Manager in the Financial Institutions Group of Executive Liability at Chartis. Salvatore was responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of insurance programs for directors and officers liability, errors and omissions liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, cyber liability, and fidelity bond insurance.

Prior to that, Salvatore gained experience as an Equity Research Analyst at Lazard Asset Management and as an Equity Research Associate at JP Morgan and Bear Stearns & Co. Salvatore also worked as a Financial Institutions Underwriter at ACE.

Salvatore began their career at Marsh as a Junior Casualty Broker in the Risk Management Division, where they worked closely with senior brokers to provide insurance and risk management solutions for Fortune 500 clients.

Throughout their career, Salvatore has demonstrated expertise in underwriting, portfolio management, financial analysis, and leadership in the insurance and financial sectors.

Salvatore Sama completed their education at St. John's University, The Peter J. Tobin College of Business. Salvatore obtained a BBA degree in Risk Management and Insurance; Finance in the years 1999 to 2003. Later, they pursued an MBA degree in International Finance from the same university, studying from 2003 to 2005. In addition to their degrees, Salvatore also obtained several certifications throughout their career, including the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) certification from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society in 2021, the ARe certification from The Institutes in 2016, and the CPCU certification, also from The Institutes, in 2015.
