Richard Willis

Richard Willis has extensive experience in the IT field, with a career spanning over 15 years. Richard has worked in various roles and companies, showcasing their expertise in cloud technology, infrastructure, and system engineering.

In their most recent role at QIC since 2016, Richard served as the Cloud and Infrastructure Lead. Richard provided technical leadership to teams and successfully delivered large-scale technology projects, including migrating server fleets to multi-cloud environments.

Before joining QIC, Richard worked as a Consultant Solution Architect at the Department of Housing and Public Works (Queensland) from 2014 to 2016. During this time, they played a vital role in the design and implementation of a new Microsoft Azure Cloud presence, as well as the migration of business applications and servers to Azure.

In 2014, Richard also worked as a Consultant Systems Engineer at RACQ. Their responsibilities included implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and setting up website single sign-on using Microsoft Azure Active Directory.

As an IT Project Engineer at UnitingCare Queensland from 2013 to 2014, Richard contributed to the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 and the design of a highly available data center to support core applications.

Prior to that, Richard worked as an Independent Consultant, providing consultancy services to various government and private industry projects. Richard specialized in server and virtualization management, as well as upgrades and migrations of various technologies.

Richard has also held positions at UnitingCare Community, Morobe Mining Joint Venture, Sabre Airline Solutions, Data#3, and Maersk Oil, where they gained experience in areas such as active directory, server support, and exchange administration.

Richard Willis attended the University of Aberdeen from 1996 to 1999. Richard then attended the University of Vienna in 2011, where they studied German as a Foreign Language. Prior to their university education, Richard Willis attended Hermitage Academy from 1990 to 1996. In addition to their education, Richard Willis has obtained several certifications including Citrix Certified Administrator for XenApp, Citrix Certified Administrator for XenServer, and VMware Certified Professional for ESX 3.5.
