Janet Verbyla

Professor Emeritus Janet Verbyla is currently Honorary Professor at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) where she was Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor heading the Academic Division from 2012 to early 2018.

Commencing as an active teaching and research academic in software and information engineering, Professor Verbyla has progressed through a wide range of university academic executive and management roles culminating in serving as Interim Vice-Chancellor for much of 2017. Janet was for a number of years, the President of the Australian Deans of ICT.

Professor Verbyla has lead successful bids for external (non-research) funding that total over $60 million. She has extensive experience chairing appointment, promotion, study leave and (internal) major equipment panels and being responsible for the associated policies and procedures. Professor Verbyla has a strong, sustained track record in internal coaching and development of academic (and professional) staff. Most recently she became a certified executive and performance coach as well as higher education consultant.
