Silvia S. is a Research Officer at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute since May 2022, focusing on liver scarring mechanisms to develop new therapeutics for chronic liver diseases. Silvia currently serves as a Visiting Scholar at Queensland University of Technology, collaborating on peptide development to inhibit inflammation pathways for liver disease treatment. Prior to these roles, Silvia operated a business educating students and adults on environmental management and sustainable practices while also teaching the Eye on the Reef Program. Earlier experience includes a Fisheries Technician position at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in Queensland. Silvia holds a PhD in Cardio physiology and Immunology from James Cook University, along with bachelor's degrees in Zoology and Biology from James Cook University and Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, respectively.
