Francesca Scire-Scappuzzo, PhD has a distinguished work experience in various industries, including aerospace, defense, electronics, and academia. Currently, they hold the position of Global Head of Science and Technology at QinetiQ. Previously, they were the Chair of IEEE AESS and IEEE GRSS, where they focused on advancing science and technology in aerospace and geoscience fields, respectively. Francesca has also served as a Senior Advisor, Board Member, and Consultant for startups, small businesses, and non-profit organizations in the aerospace and defense sector. Notably, they held leadership roles at BAE Systems, where they led innovation strategy and research development in the Electronic Systems sector. Francesca has also co-founded and served as President and CEO of Ondetech LLC, specializing in next-generation electronic products. Prior to that, they held positions at Metamagnetics Inc., Physical Sciences Inc., Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Universitá di Catania, and MIT, where they conducted research in areas such as electromagnetics, satellite navigation, and radar technology. Francesca Scire-Scappuzzo has been widely recognized for their contributions, holding eight patents and receiving numerous research grants and awards.

Francesca Scire-Scappuzzo, PhD, has an education history that includes a Ph.D in Geomatics and Geospatial Engineering from ETH Zürich in Switzerland. Francesca also holds a Certificate in Science, Technology, Policy, and Economics from the International Space University in Kitakyushu, Japan. In addition, they have an MS degree in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BS and MEE degree in Electrical Engineering from Università di Catania in Italy, where they graduated Summa Cum Laude.
