Barbara Wirostko MD, FARVO

Barbara Wirostko MD, FARVO has extensive experience in the medical field. Barbara began their career in 2006 as a Senior Medical Director at Pfizer, where they were responsible for due diligence as the medical lead on various ophthalmic products, clinical trial design, safety and pharmacovigilence. In 2010, they became the Chief Medical Officer at Altheos Inc, and in 2012 they Co-Founded and served as Chief Scientific Officer at Jade Therapeutics Inc. In 2016, they were appointed Chief Medical Officer at EyeGate Pharmaceuticals, Inc. after Jade Therapeutics was acquired by EyeGate. Additionally, they have served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine since 2010, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer at Qlaris Bio, Inc. since 2019, and Board Member and Strategic Advisor at Glauconix Biosciences, Inc. since 2015. In 2014, they founded and currently serves as President and Executive Director of the Joseph James Morelli Legacy Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization.

Barbara Wirostko MD, FARVO obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Columbia University in 1991 and a Bachelor's degree with distinction in Microbiology, General from Cornell University in 1987. Barbara also obtained their Fellow of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) certification in June 2019 and their Fellow of American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) certification in 1997.
