Safakcan Tuncdemir is currently working at QorTek, Inc. as VP of Materials and Devices and previously held the role of Vice President of Technical Ceramics and Mechanical Systems. Prior to that, they were the President and CTO of Solid State Ceramics, Inc. where they established a piezoelectric device design and manufacturing facility and grew the team from 1 to 10. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Atilim University where they developed curriculum, organized and built new labs, and taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechatronics Engineering and Production Engineering. Lastly, Safakcan Tuncdemir was a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Middle East Technical University where they taught undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering related to mechanics and mechatronics.

Safakcan Tuncdemir obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi/Middle East Technical University in 2002. Safakcan then pursued a Master of Science degree in the same field from the same university between 2002 and 2004. In 2005, they enrolled at Penn State University and completed a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2011.
