Frank Wilhelm-Mauch has extensive work experience in the field of quantum physics and solid-state research. Frank is currently the Director at Forschungszentrum Jülich, a position they have held since July 2020. In 2021, they co-founded Qruise. Prior to these roles, they were a Universitätsprofessor at Saarland University, where they headed the quantum solid state research group and was involved in academic teaching and various leadership positions. Frank also served as an Advisor at Heisenberg Quantum Simulations starting from August 2018. From 2006 to 2016, Frank held various positions at the University of Waterloo, including Adjunct Professor, Full Professor on leave, and Associate Professor. Frank was a Member of the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo from 2006 to 2013. Before that, they worked as a Wissenschaftlicher Assistent (senior researcher) at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München from 2001 to 2005 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at TU Delft from 1999 to 2001. Their earlier experience includes working as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) from 1996 to 1999.
Frank Wilhelm-Mauch has a strong educational background in physics. Frank obtained their Abitur, equivalent to a high school diploma, from Hölderlin-Gymnasium Lauffen a.N. in 1990. Frank then pursued their Bachelor's degree in physics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where they studied from 1991 to 1996. Frank continued their education at KIT and completed a Doctorate of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) in Physics Promotion from 1996 to 1999.
After a brief break in their academic journey, they attended Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from 2001 to 2004 to pursue their Habilitation in Theoretical Physics. Frank Wilhelm-Mauch's education history demonstrates their commitment to advancing their knowledge and expertise in the field of physics.
