Shai Machnes

Shai Machnes has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Starting in 1989, Machnes worked as a computer programmer in the IDF Navy, where they received recognition for their devotion and excellence. From 1995 to 1998, they served as a Senior Software Engineer at Tiltan Systems Engineering. Following that, they held positions at Trivnet LTD as a Team Leader, Product Manager, and CTO from 1998 to 2003. From 2004 to 2009, Machnes worked as a consultant specializing in mathematically intense programming. In 2009, they participated in the Graduate Studies Program at Singularity University, a unique interdisciplinary program hosted by NASA and Google. Shai continued their academic career as a Post-doc at Universität Ulm from 2011 to 2014, Weizmann Institute of Science from 2014 to 2016, and Saarland University from 2016 to 2020. Most recently, Machnes served as the Chief Executive Officer at Qruise starting in December 2021.

Shai Machnes began their education journey at The Open University of Israel, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Computer Science from 1990 to 1995. Shai later enrolled at Tel Aviv University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Physics between 1995 and 1998. Shai then furthered their studies at Tel Aviv University by completing a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Physics from 2003 to 2005. Their passion for physics led him to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Quantum Physics, which they successfully earned from Tel Aviv University from 2005 to 2010.
