Rene Gomez, Jr. has had extensive work experience in various fields. Rene began their career as a Police Officer at the Louisville Metro Police Department, where they ensured public safety, prepared incident reports, and testified in court. Rene then transitioned to the role of Director of Student Programs, Pastoral Counselor, Church Safety Advisor, and Associate Pastor at Ninth and O, where they created learning experiences and resources, managed volunteer staff, and provided pastoral care training. Following this, Rene worked at Onovative as a Software Developer, where they innovated and maintained core software and cloud applications. Rene later joined connectSome as a Marriage and Family Coach and Web Developer, providing coaching and counseling services and creating action plans for personal and relational health. Rene has also worked at Path Restore as a Soul Care and Wellness Coach and Training Specialist, focusing on relational, emotional, physical, and mental wellness coaching, as well as technology use training. Rene Gomez, Jr. has a diverse education history. In 2022, they obtained certifications as an NBC-HWC from the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching and as a Wellness Coach from the Mayo Clinic. In 2018, they completed courses in data science, specifically "PH125.1x: Data Science: R Basics" and "PH125.2x: Data Science: Visualization" from edX. Additionally, in 2020, Rene obtained the CompTIA A+ ce Certification from CompTIA.
In terms of formal education, Rene pursued a Master of Divinity - MDiv degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary from 2004 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Pastoral Studies/Counseling from Moody Bible Institute in 2004. Furthermore, Rene engaged in non-degree seeking education in Mathematics Teacher Education at the University of Louisville in 2005. More recently, they pursued focused training in full-stack development and Java at The Software Guild in 2016 and back-end technology with a focus on Ruby on Rails at Bloc from 2015 to 2016.
