Brandon Powell has worked in a variety of engineering roles since 2010. In 2013, they were a Project Engineer at Quality Manufacturing Group. From 2014 to 2015, they were a Powertrain Engineer at FCA North America, where they determined engineering requirements for clutches and clutch hydraulics, coordinated with various groups, and worked with suppliers to ensure parts met production standards and requirements. From 2015 to 2016, they were a Studio Design Engineer at General Motors, where they provided engineering support to the creative design team, developed packaging requirements for studio surfaces, and verified that studio clay and CAD surfaces were criteria compliant. From 2016 to 2019, they were an Autonomous Vehicle Platform Architect and Human-Machine Interface and Controls Engineer at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems, where they created architecture for off-road autonomous systems, acted as a voice-of-customer for the overall autonomous system, developed path planning and motion planning modules, and designed and implemented C++ embedded state machines. Currently, they are a Software Engineer at quadric.io.

Brandon Powell obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2012. Brandon also obtained an Engineering Intern certification from the Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors in May of 2012. Afterward, they returned to Mississippi State University, where they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science in 2019.
