Daniel Brooks

Daniel Brooks has a wealth of experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Daniel began their career in 2002 as the Garden and Ecology Coordinator for an Ethnographic Study at Michigan State University. In 2006, they joined the Peace Corps as a Peace Corps Volunteer, where they collaborated with local organizations and stakeholders to build five biogas energy systems. In 2009, they worked as a Manager at Ray's Hell Burger, where they managed a staff of 50 employees, organized schedules, interpreted for Spanish speaking employees, and kept things running smoothly.

In 2011, Brooks worked as a Transportation Fellow at the Eno Center for Transportation, and as an Energy & Climate Partnership of the Americas Intern at the American Planning Association. Daniel also worked as a Graduate Student Intern at the Salt River Project. In 2013, they became the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Transit Planning at The Detroit Bus Company, where they lead fleet expansion and increased the number of drivers, and developed and implemented an after-school youth transportation program.

In 2016, Brooks joined NSI Consulting Group as a Geographic Information Systems Analyst, where they helped streamline processes and project development focused on map making, exhibits, and company ArcGIS expansion. Daniel also served as a Mapping Consultant. In 2017, they became a Principal at Pivot Planning & Design, where they worked with GIS and mapping, urban design, project design and implementation, as well as website design. Daniel also tested and implemented unmanned Aerial Systems (drone) use in urban planning.

In 2018, Brooks co-founded and became the Manager of Quantifly, where they led mapping and data analysis, business development, and potential clients, as well as HR, payroll, company finances, and other tasks. Daniel also helped develop a propriety tech that counts 100s of acres of parking automatically, resulting in an incredibly accurate and detailed dataset visualizing parking demand and turnover.

Daniel Brooks attended Michigan State University from 1999 to 2004, earning a degree in Philosophy with a specialization in Peace and Justice Studies. Daniel then attended the University of Maryland from 2010 to 2012, where they obtained a Masters degree in Urban Planning.
