Doug Szperka

Software Engineering Manager at Quantum Circuits

Doug Szperka has a strong background in software engineering, with experience in various roles and companies. Doug is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Quantum Circuits, Inc. starting in November 2022.

Prior to that, Doug worked at WIRB-Copernicus Group from October 2020 to November 2022 as a Principal Software Engineer. In this role, they led the development of the Data Change Request (DCR) module for the WCG Medavante-Prophase Virgil Web Portal. Doug managed multiple offshore teams and integrated components of Microsoft Azure, Atlassian Jira, and Amazon S3 into the web application and microservices.

From 2011 to 2020, they worked at CommScope (formerly ARRIS, Motorola Mobility) in two different roles. First, as a Principal Software Engineer, they took on managerial and technical project lead responsibilities during a reorganization of the video delivery business. Doug also participated in prototyping sessions for next-generation smart-media devices. Additionally, as an Embedded Software Engineering Contractor, they designed and implemented features for a linux-based set-top box platform and led the technical effort during the final stages of development of an out-of-band provisioning module.

Before that, they worked at Arris Systems from 2008 to 2011 as a Systems Engineer. Doug managed a team of software engineers, developed a medical imaging read system and an automated data entry system, and contributed to a Silverlight-based organ donor data collection system.

From 2006 to 2008, they were an Embedded Software Engineering Contractor at Motorola Mobility, where they provided support for Advanced Settop Box products and resolved critical field issues for MSOs like Comcast, Verizon, and Cox.

Doug's early career included a role as a Senior Engineer at ATI Research, Inc. from 2001 to 2006. Doug led ASIC verification efforts for cable modem and digital TV products, as well as designed and developed chip-level hardware models.

Overall, Doug Szperka has a broad range of experience in software engineering, with expertise in various areas such as web development, set-top box platforms, and hardware modeling.

Doug Szperka attended Drexel University from 1996 to 2001, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Engineering. Doug then pursued further education at the University of Pennsylvania from 2003 to 2007, earning a Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) in Computer & Information Science.
