Garry Tanner

Partner at Quantum Energy Partners

Garry is a member of Quantum’s Executive and Investment Committees. He is involved in the setting of the firm’s strategy and is responsible for originating and overseeing investments in the oil and gas upstream and midstream sectors. He also oversees all of Quantum’s in-house technical efforts, utilizing his more than 25 years of commercial, technical and operating experience in the U.S. and Canada.

Prior to joining Quantum, Garry was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Enerplus Resources Fund, a $4 billion enterprise value Canadian public royalty trust where he was instrumental in growing the company from a small, financially driven enterprise to a large, technically driven company with top sector returns. Prior to joining Enerplus, Garry served as a Senior Vice President of EnCap Investments where he initially worked in its Houston office and then opened and ran the firm’s investment office in Calgary. From 1984 to 1997, Garry worked for Exxon Company USA where he served in a variety of engineering, operational and management positions. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, both with honors, and is a professional engineer in the State of Texas.
