Ben Moree, PhD

Ben Moree, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Ben served as the Director of Drug Discovery from March 2021 to August 2021, overseeing the technical and operational aspects of the company's oncology programs. Ben also held the role of Director, Core Technology from July 2018 to March 2021, leading a team of scientists and conducting biochemical assays to study protein-ligand interactions. As a Senior Scientist from July 2014 to June 2018, they played a key role in developing and validating SHG technology and collaborated with academic and industry partners for instrument commercialization. Ben started their journey at BlueLight Therapeutics as a Scientist, focusing on developing protein model systems and lipid-bilayer surface formulations for platform commercialization from October 2013 to June 2014.

Prior to their work at BlueLight Therapeutics, Ben worked at Biodesy, LLC as a Scientist from January 2013 to October 2013, where they contributed to the development and commercial launch of the Biodesy Delta instrument.

Ben's academic background includes obtaining a PhD in Molecular Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine, where their research focused on studying the assembly and epigenetic propagation of centromeric histones. Ben worked as a PhD student from September 2004 to August 2012.

Before pursuing their PhD, Ben gained research experience at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they served as a Research Technician II/Lab Manager from June 2001 to August 2004 and as an Undergraduate Laboratory Assistant from June 2000 to May 2001.
