Cathode Process Engineer at QuantumScape

Aaron Schwartz has extensive work experience in the field of battery engineering and materials research. Aaron is currently employed as a Cathode Process Engineer at QuantumScape since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Panasonic Energy of North America from June 2019 to March 2022, first as a Battery Engineer - Formation and later as a Battery Engineer - Cathode. Aaron also worked as a Research Associate at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory from September 2017 to May 2019, where they researched sodium ion battery anodes and studied freeze tape casting for structuring LLZO films for solid-state batteries. Before that, they interned as a Redox Flow Battery Intern at Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. in 2017 and as a Materials Engineering Intern at Tesla from January 2017 to May 2017. Aaron also gained internship experience as an Advanced Materials Intern at ABB from August 2016 to December 2016. Aaron began their research career as a Student Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Electrochemical Technologies Group from September 2015 to August 2016, where they synthesized lithium sulfur cathode materials and conducted performance testing. Prior to this, they worked as an R&D Engineering Intern at NEXT Energy Tech from June 2015 to August 2015, where they characterized degradation behaviors of hole transport layers in organic photovoltaic solar cells. Aaron also has experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at Liwei Lin M3B Laboratory and the Center for Research and Education on Aging, LBNL in 2014 and 2015.

Aaron Schwartz earned their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering and Materials Sciences and Engineering Joint Major from the University of California, Berkeley. Aaron attended the university from 2013 to 2018. After completing their bachelor's degree, Aaron went on to pursue a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Materials Science at the same institution. Aaron attended the University of California, Berkeley for their master's degree from 2018 to 2019.
