Stuart Aftanas has a diverse work experience. Stuart began their professional career as a SHAD Fellow at the SHAD Network in 2017. In 2019, they became an Academic Director at the Dalhousie Diploma Of Engineering Society, where they organized academic events for first and second year engineering students.
Stuart also worked at Dalhousie University, starting as a volunteer in the Jeff Dahn Research Group in 2019. In this role, they prepared electrolytes and filled lithium-ion test pouch cells and coin cells for analysis. Stuart continued their work as a Summer Student in 2020, where they focused on developing a Python-based web application using the Flask framework to process and graph data from a coin-cell dedicated charger. In 2021, Stuart served as an Assistant Research Engineer in the same research group, developing methods to quantitate Lithium-ion battery electrolyte components using benchtop NMR.
In terms of industry experience, Stuart has worked at QuantumScape since 2021. Stuart started as a Stack Science Intern, gaining valuable experience in the field. In 2022, they moved up to the role of Software Engineering Intern, where they further developed their skills. Currently, Stuart holds the position of Software Engineer at QuantumScape, starting in 2023.
Through their various roles, Stuart has demonstrated their expertise in software engineering, research, and academic leadership.
Stuart Aftanas began their educational journey in 2018 at Concordia University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree. Although the field of study for this degree is unclear, Stuart completed their studies in the same year. In 2019, Stuart enrolled in Dalhousie University to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering degree specifically in Electrical and Computer Engineering. This program is anticipated to conclude in 2023, marking the continuation of Stuart's educational pursuits in the field of engineering.
