Pierre Karl Péladeau

After being President and Chief Executive Officer of Quebecor from 1999 to 2013, Pierre Karl Péladeau assumed this position again since February 16, 2017, in addition to being President and Chief Executive Officer of Quebecor Sports and Entertainment Group.

Very early on, Pierre Karl Péladeau showed a marked interest in business and in the company founded by his father in 1965, Quebecor. From 1985, he was in charge of various subsidiaries and made several acquisitions that were promising for the future of the family business. In 2000, then becoming President and Chief Executive Officer of Quebecor, he embarked on a decisive shift: the acquisition of Groupe Vidéotron and TVA. Quebecor then becomes a major player in the new economy in Canada.

In 2014, Pierre Karl Péladeau left the business world to make the leap into politics. Elected member for the riding of Saint-Jérôme in April 2014 under the banner of the Parti Québécois, he became leader of this party and leader of the official opposition in the National Assembly of Quebec on May 15, 2015. He held these positions until May 15, 2015. as of May 2, 2016.

Pierre Karl Péladeau chaired several boards of directors including LA LA LA Human Steps (1994-2004), Fondation de l'Entrepreneurship (2011-2014), Hydro-Québec (2013-2014) and Quebecor Media ( 2013-2014). He was also a member of the board of directors of the Conseil du patronat du Québec (2007-2010) and of the Lionel-Groulx Foundation (2012-2014). Very involved in the promotion and preservation of Quebec culture, in 2008 he launched the projectÉléphant, memory of Quebec cinema , a major philanthropic investment whose mission is to digitize, restore and make accessible Quebec's cinematographic heritage. Today, Pierre Karl Péladeau is President of the Chopin-Péladeau Foundation, a private family foundation named in memory of his parents, Raymonde Chopin and Pierre Péladeau.

He was decorated with the Medal of Honor of the National Assembly of Quebec in 2005 and knighted in the Ordre de la Pléiade in 2013.
