Steve Scott is the Director of Campus Development & Operations at Queen Margaret University. Steve has over 25 years of experience in facilities management and construction.

Steve began their career as a Contracts Manager at Edinburgh Napier University, where they were responsible for procuring and co-ordinating a contracted workforce to undertake repair, maintenance and facilities functions across the University Estate. Steve also served as Project Manager and principal contact in relation to revenue-funded minor works projects, ensuring co-ordination with the strategic capital works programme.

In their role at Edinburgh Napier University, Steve also participated in the preparation of the University Estate Strategy, with direct responsibility for implementing estate-wide Condition Surveys and for developing long-term maintenance plans. Steve was also responsible for negotiating, implementing, and managing Service Level Agreements for all property and facility-related functions associated with a portfolio of premises located on or within National Health Service sites. In addition, they provided long-term comprehensive physical resource planning for the University’s outsourced Student accommodation.

Steve was also the Systems Manager for the departmental Computer Aided Facilities Management Software System, which incorporated all facilities functions and operated across all sections of the department. Steve specified and developed various functions of the system, including the Property and Lease module, helpdesk call logging, and space inventory data.

Under Steve’s leadership, the Campus Development & Operations team at Queen Margaret University is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of all campus buildings and grounds. The team strives to create a safe, attractive, welcoming, and sustainable campus environment that meets the needs of students, staff, and visitors.

Steve Scott has a BSc in Quantity Surveying from Robert Gordon's University. Steve has also received certification from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), the Association of Planning Supervisors (APS), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Their manager is Dame Prue Leith, Chancellor. They work with David Stevenson - Dean of School, Arts, Social Sciences & Management, Malcolm Cutt - Director, Finance & Corporate Strategic Development, and Richard Butt - Deputy Principal.
