Jak Curtis-Rendall has a diverse range of work experience, primarily focusing on communication, marketing, and student engagement roles within universities and student unions. In their most recent position as Head of Communications and Marketing at Queen Mary University of London Students' Union, Jak managed various campaigns, resources, and teams. Before that, they held the role of Communications & Marketing Manager and Student Activities Coordinator at the same institution. Jak previously worked at the University of Exeter Students' Guild as Vice President Participation & Campuses, Director & Trustee, and Societies Officer, where they oversaw student societies, volunteering, events, and media. Jak also has experience with ambassadorship, having worked as an Ambassador Team Leader during the London 2012 Olympics. Additionally, they have worked as a GIS Analyst at the Met Office, a Section Team Leader at Asda, and as an IT/Multimedia Support Assistant at All Saints C of E School.
Jak Curtis-Rendall attended Thomas Hardye School from 2007 to 2010 and received an A Level degree. During this time, they studied subjects such as Geography, Business Studies, Computing, Mathematics, and General Studies. After completing their A Levels, Jak went on to University of Exeter where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geography from 2010 to 2013.

Queen Mary Students’ Union is a student-led democratic membership organisation that is the voice of all Queen Mary students. The Students’ Union is responsible for supporting you during your time at University. It’s led by students across Queen Mary and ensures that the University and wider community are listening to what students want and works to improve students’ experience. Every student is automatically a member and has a say in how it is run through elections and student representatives. The Students’ Union has lots on offer, including over 250 student-led Societies and Sports Clubs, volunteering opportunities, Student Media outlets, sustainability projects and the Queen Mary Skills Award programme. It also offers a packed programme of hundreds of events and activities, including the Try Something New programme. There are campaigns and celebrations throughout the year to mark things like Black History Month, LGBT+ History Month, Lunar New Year and many more. There is something for everyone! The Students’ Union also provides several student services at Mile End, Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square, including a Sport and Fitness Centre, several bars, shops and cafes, an Academic Advice Service and student spaces including the Students’ Union Hub social space, Nest study space and Multi-Faith Centre.
