Peter Barta

Peter Barta is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in criminal defense and civil rights litigation. Peter Barta founded the Law Offices of Peter A. Barta in April 2020, providing private criminal defense services to clients across New York City's five boroughs and Long Island. Currently serving as a Staff Attorney at Queens Defenders since September 2022, Peter Barta previously held the position of Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Steven Goldman from March 2018 to April 2020. Additional experience includes an adjunct professorship in Criminal Justice at Borough of Manhattan Community College, where Peter Barta taught Criminal Law and Criminal Justice from January 2015 to May 2018, as well as various roles at the Center for Employment Opportunities and The Fortune Society. Peter Barta's legal journey began at the Legal Aid Society's Manhattan Criminal Defense Division, followed by a position as Legal Consultant at the Capital Defender Office.
