The discovery of gold in 1867 was the most significant event in Queensland’s history. Gold saved Queensland; providing freedom and financial independence to save and rebuild our great state into an international powerhouse. The Queensland Mint continues the legacy. Our mine to mint strategy enables us to discover, recover, recycle, and market local Queensland gold. The iconic Queensland Mint logo, featuring a bounding kangaroo silhouette at sunrise, is known internationally as a quality mint mark for pure gold and silver. The Australian kangaroo features on millions of coins and bars sold throughout the world.
