Matthew Hirst

Matthew Hirst's work experience includes:

- At Queer Spaces, they are currently serving as the Head of Engineering. Matthew is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of a group chat platform for building queer communities.

- At Hornet, they held two roles. From February 2019 to the present, they worked as the Head of Engineering, leading a small team in designing and implementing new features and maintaining the infrastructure. From December 2016 to January 2019, they worked as a Platform Engineer, focusing on server-side feature design and implementation for the world's queer social network.

- At Device Magic, they worked as a Senior Developer from January 2014 to November 2016.

- At Curiosity Campus, they worked as an Instructor from November 2013 to March 2014, creating and presenting Ruby on Rails courses and tutoring participants.

- At Platform45, they worked as a Ruby on Rails Developer from February 2010 to December 2013, designing and building web applications for clients.

- At Strio, they worked as a Ruby on Rails Developer from January 2008 to January 2010.

Matthew Hirst completed their education at the University of Cape Town and Fairmont High School. Matthew attended Fairmont High School from 2000 to 2005 but did not earn a specific degree or field of study. Later, from 2005 to 2008, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science and Game Design at the University of Cape Town. In 2009, Matthew went on to complete an additional degree, a BSc Hons, in Computer Science at the University of Cape Town.
