In Suriname it is a requirement that your trade goods, or cargo with a CIF value (cost, insurance, freight) higher than USD 400, are released through the intervention of a customs broker, the so-called clearing agent. The clearing agent acts as an intermediary between customs on the one hand and importers and exporters on the other.
